I work in oil because I feel that the layers upon layers of creamy, semi-impressionistic imagery helps develop the subject step by step. Recovering not only what the subject IS, but what the subject is about. Wild, anachronistic colors accent this point. I work long hours in minimal light (blocking out the mid-day sun) because it focuses the light while also allowing me to experiment, ruin, rebuild and interact with a piece.
