What causes familiarity towards a place you have never been before? These pictures are taken from a project called Q&A that I have been working on for the past five years. I am to explore the relationship the U.S.A. has with its own mythos by creating a sort of hyperreality: by photographing the country in a way that willfully indulges its cultural tropes. I hope to both scrutinize and celebrate the way in which the visual language used to describe the country is continuously repeated and recycled in a similar way to the mechanics of old folk or blues standards.
